Profile

Department of History is established in the year 1968.

The Lecturers of the Department of History, J.K.C . College have been striving to supplement and complement the usual Curriculam, class room instructions with seminars and Quiz programmes on textual and general topics.

The percentage of passes in the final year B.A. examinations in History is more than 80 % since 1971 on which year the I batch students appeared for the University examination. The lecturers of the department are attended refresher courses and came to know the latest developments in the subject. The lecturers of the department are coaching the students who are academically backward.

Strengths of the Department:

  • The Department has well-experienced faculty.
  • Students’ academic performance is continuously monitored.
  • Active participation in co-curricular and extension activities
  • The staff and the students interact with the renowned by conducting seminars, workshops and guest lectures on regular basis.
  • The staff shows readiness staff to learn other subjects which have interdisciplinary relevance. Here it is pertinent to say that the Dept. takes an active part in framing the syllabus and teaching the UGC Certificate Course, “Religion and Moral Education”

Opportunities Of The Depatrement:

  • Internet Facility is provided to consult the new trends and refer to research publications.
  • The Departmental Library has a useful collection of books on ancient, medieval and modern India.
  • The UGC- funded projects – both major and minor - widen opportunities to pursue research in a more methodical manner.
  • Tourism industry develops by leaps and bounds. Hence, suitable changes are effected in the syllabi in compliance with the norms.
  • Students can have better prospects of employment, if they opt for History in competitive examinations.

Challanges of The Departement

  • It becomes an uphill task to motivate students
  • To attract self-motivated students for admission into B.A
  • To prepare students for better career opportunities.
  • To inculcate research aptitude in the students.

Future Plans Of The Departement

  • Our Department proposes to provide coaching to the students for different Competitive Examination
  • To apply for the UGC-funded projects.
  • To offer a certificate course in Tourism
  • To improve the herbal garden and to add specimens in the department museumUseful projects will be assigned to students.
  • Department proposes to organise training programmes to get self employment.
